It was a casual brunch encounter at FIVE Bar & Restaurant in Birmingham that brought Cait and Eric together.
On a lovely Autumn morning in the Magic City, the two met for a casual get-to-know-you meal, unsuspecting of how it would change their entire lives.
There was a hopeful energy in the air - the eggs were benedict, the mimosas were flowing, and the french toast was both French and toasted. In hindsight, it's a bit surprising they both had two mimosas each - Eric isn't fond of day drinking (except when it's poolside in Punta Cana) and Cait had to leave for a PA school study session in just one hour. Despite having only just met, the two were able to enjoy a stranger's company and make great use of their short time together. Eric was, as you might assume, totally charming and gentlemanly, while Cait brought equally good energy with everything she did.
After two hours passed in the blink of an eye, it was time for Cait to rush off to the studying session she was late to. Little did she know, it would be the first of many study sessions skipped for this boy.
Soon, the duo were doing anything but studying, instead climbing mountains, sampling new restaurants, botching Instagram cooking recipes and failing to teach Simba how to fetch like a normal dog.
But they weren't really doing any of those things, were they?
All the while, in the background, the two were feeling out what a new life might look like together; pressing and experimenting, talking and discussing, and even going so far as to visualize a permanent future experienced side by side.
That future is in Durham & Chapel Hill, North Carolina, but before it can begin (try and imagine we haven't been living here together for six months already), it must be kicked off with a bang. This future of ours isn't the end of anything, it's the beginning of a thrilling, adventure-filled ride. And that deserves a celebration.
Join us in Punta Cana this April to celebrate the bond of a lifetime and the future of, well, also a lifetime.
Thanks for being such a special part of our lives. We can't wait to see you there.
